Risley Hall is an 11th century manor house set in 17 acres of gardens. It is conveniently located just off M1 Junction 25, making it the perfect wedding location if you have friends and family in both Derby and Nottingham. As a wedding photographer who covers both Nottingham and Derby, I am often in this area.
This was one of my favourite photographs from Sarah & Luke's wedding at Risley Hall.
I remember waiting for the bride to turn up in the wedding car. When she pulled up, the father of the bride wound his window down and proudly showed me his camera. It was a Nikon D3 which is a legendary camera.
There is a time and a place for photography when you are not the official wedding photographer. So I asked if he'd mind if I held onto it just for this photograph. I'm so glad I did since this photograph shows a beautiful natural moment as a proud father of the bride walks his daughter into Risley Hall to get married. It simply wouldn't have looked the same if he had a big D3 camera over his shoulder.
In fact I do confess accidentally on purpose keeping hold of the camera since I didn't want the same thing to happen as they walked down the aisle.
What I did do though, since i am a Nikon user. Was to use the D3 during the ceremony to hopefully capture some great memories for the proud father of his little girl getting married.
