This is one of my favourite documentary wedding photographs taken in Nottingham area. I was lucky to be chosen as Katy & Andy’s Woodborough Hall wedding photographer.
As the registrar asked everyone to stand, I saw Andy starting to get very emotional. As an experienced wedding photographer, I was ideally positioned to capture this memory for them.
What I love about this image is how their son is looking up at his dad wondering why he is crying. At the same time, the bride is just beginning her walk down the aisle to begin the marriage ceremony.
In my opinion, such a powerful image needs to be in black and white to add drama to the photograph.
Woodborough Hall is a popular wedding venue just ten minutes outside Nottingham city centre. Wedding ceremonies take place in the orangery which has plenty of natural light.
The gardens outside are well kept and provide ample settings for the bride & groom portraits. The bar is just inside the side door meaning that during the summer, many of the guests will enjoy the evening reception outside.
Inside there are a few rooms for guests to stay. My favourite room for bridal preparations is the red room which I think is stunning.
