Wow, has it really been so long? Am I really so behind in my blogs??? It seems a long time ago since I was the Nottingham wedding photographer for Danny & Lauren at Sherwood Forest. It was such an action packed day that I can’t believe I haven’t told you all about it earlier. Danny & Lauren live in London so most of the arrangements including booking myself were done over the Internet. We first met at Sherwood Forest when they went to meet their wedding coordinator. The forest itself is a beautiful backdrop for those who don’t want the traditional hotel wedding and I couldn’t wait for their day to arrive.
I arrived at Centerparcs early in the morning to photograph the girl’s getting ready. The guys were also getting ready in a lodge not too far away. In keeping with the ethos at Centerparcs, Danny and his ushers had some fantastic foldable bicycle’s to ride around on and that is how Danny arrived at the ceremony. The lodges provided a good amount of space for everyone to get ready which is great because sometimes everyone is squashed into a single hotel room. The open space outside also gave us plenty of opportunity to get some nice photos.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Oak room at Sherwood Forest with an outdoor blessing shortly afterwards performed by Danny’s best man, Dave – Who I have to say did a fantastic job. If he was nervous, I couldn’t tell. Once the blessing was over, Lauren and Danny took a selfie on the longest selfie stick I’ve ever seen with them and their family & friends in the background.
The reception was in the main restaurant and as you can see from the photos, the speeches were incredibly funny. Before we knew it, it was time for the first dance and unsuprisingly, Danny & Lauren didn’t opt for your usual DJ playing a smoochy song. Instead they’d hired a Mexican band who had driven all the way up from London. It was a huge hit and the dancefloor was never empty. I managed to steal the happy couple away for a few moments after their first dance for a few portraits before leaving them to party the night away.
I’m so pleased to have been part of their special day and I am looking forward to being there again in March for Rian & Sian’s wedding. If you are thinking about getting married at Sherwood Forest, Nottingham then send me a message. I’d love to tell your story.
