I first met Lucy & Kevin at a local wedding fayre in Derby. They chose me to be their wedding photographer at Stapleford Park – Leicestershire because my proven track record for winter weddings. My experience of creating wedding photographs using creative flash techniques really helps during the winter when the light fades early.
So on a rather windy and wet February morning, I arrived in the morning at the Bridal suite. Lucy was having her make up done by Rochelle O’Brien. Rochelle & I will be seeing much more of each other this year. We seem to have quite a few joint customers. Helen Sutcliffe was in the other half of the suite busy doing bridesmaid’s hair.
During a quiet moment, I jumped into a golf buggy and we drove to meet the boys in one of the nearby cottages. Soon it was time to return to the girls to get some final getting ready photos with the bridesmaids.
The wedding ceremony was in the magnificent Orangery. The amount of natural light flooding in, is just a dream come true for most photographers. Lucy made quite the entrance in her designer Maggie Sottero dress and she looked absolutely stunning! Kevin was beaming as she walked down the aisle.
Once the ceremony was over, we went outside for some portraits. We made use of the beautiful gardens and a few inside locations before it was time for the wedding breakfast. The speeches were hilarious and it wasn’t just Kevin who got a hard time from his best man, his brother but also their dad too!
After the wedding breakfast, Lucy and Kevin were happy to spare me a few more minutes for some more creative evening portraits. Next it was straight into the cake cut then the first dance. The guests soon joined them and I left a packed dance floor to head home, tired but happy. It was a great day!
