Mel & Jim first contacted me about their wedding last year and told me about their plans to get married at Repton School in Derby where Mel was once a student. Getting married at your old school probably isn’t something many people would ever consider but then most of us didn’t go to a school quite like Repton School! The buildings are simply stunning and despite being right next to a large church, the school has it’s own chapel. Their plans for a half Scottish, half greek wedding sounded amazing and I was really glad when Mel & Jim asked me to be their Derby wedding photographer.
Their wedding day soon arrived and whilst it rained on the day, this didn’t stop everyone from having an amazing time. We caught a brief moment of sun which we took advantage of to take some beautiful autumn style portraits shortly before the wedding coordinator whisked them off for the wedding breakfast. The orange sodium lights in the reception room made it a real challenge to light correctly but it was a challenge I relished. This was one of those times where having a professional wedding photographer makes the difference and as a result we captured some fantastic moments that I hope Mel & Jim will adore for years to come.
I left the happy couple after the first dance with the party in full swing and a packed dance floor. I left absolutely exhausted but happy with the photographs I’d taken. I would LOVE the opportunity to work there again. So if you are looking for photographers in Nottingham or Derby then send me a message and let’s get talking about your wedding plans.
