ZARA & MICK – DONINGTON PARK FARMHOUSE HOTEL WEDDING

Firstly let’s just get the elephant in the room out of the way.  Is it Donington Park Farm House Hotel?  Or Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel?  I even tried to Google it and it’s referred to both ways.  So I will use the description as per the official website which seems a safe bet!

I spent a wonderful day in the company of two very special people, Zara and Mick.  They decided to get married at Donington Park Farm House Hotel which is less than three miles from the East Midlands airport but feels like you’re really in the Derbyshire countryside.

If you are looking for a traditional barn wedding in the Derby or Nottingham area then this place should be on your ‘must see’ list. The brick and timber features date back to the 17th century. The buildings have been carefully modernised to retain original features but also to provide a modern feel for your wedding day.

I arrived in the morning at Zara’s parent’s house where the girls were getting ready. My second photographer Peter arrived at Donington Park Farm House to photograph the all important wedding details and of course the guys after they arrived.

The ceremony and reception were all inside the venue.  The wedding breakfast was held in the pig sty room where the father of the bride gave such a great speech.  It made me think that one day when I get married, I hope I can do a speech as well as Phil did.

Later in the evening we jumped outside to do some creative portraits.  I admit I was a little gutted that the farmer hadn’t planted any decent crop that we could use for the photos. However we still managed to create some nice photos.  Later after the first dance all the guests came outside for a sparkler tunnel.  I always like to be prepared so I had a couple of windproof lighters on hand to help get all the sparklers lit in time. Experience has taught me that unless you get them all lit quickly. By the time you’ve done one end, the sparklers at the other end of the tunnel have gone out!  Luckily we got it done and managed to capture the photos in one easy take!

Here is a small selection of photos from their day.  Hope you like them.
