Norwood Park is one of my favourite wedding venues in Nottinghamshire. I am always excited when I get chance to create stunning Norwood Park wedding photographs. So naturally I always look forward to working at one of the most prestigious venues in Nottinghamshire.
Located in the market town of Southwell, set in a very quiet and secluded area with over 175 acres of deer parkland. Norwood Park boasts a lake and apple orchard. You know you’ve arrived at somewhere special when you drive through the white gates and up the magnificent driveway.
There are many beautiful features for amazing wedding photographs at Norwood Park. If you’re looking for somewhere to get married which has the wow factor then this beautiful venue should definitely be on your short list.
Accommodation at Norwood Park
There are 17 bedrooms at Norwood Park which sleeps a maximum of 47 people. This should be enough for close family and your wedding party. Each room has been tastefully decorated and is in keeping with the stylish and elegant feel of the entire house.
The bride will understandably want to get ready in the Viscount bedroom. This used to be the Honeymoon Suite. Personally I love this room. It’s an impressive bridal suite which makes it practical if you have a large bridal party. The ornate four poster bed is one of the main features, along with the roll-top bath in the separate en-suite.
Two large windows let lots of natural light flood into the room. Whilst I am comfortable using flash when needed. During bridal preparations, I always prefer the beauty of natural light where ever possible. I just think this is more flattering.
This is just the perfect room for you to get ready in the mornings and rest in the evening once the party is over.
Wedding Ceremonies at Norwood Park
If you have always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, the Gazebo in the Norwood Park gardens would be an ideal place for you to tie the knot.
Just look at the grand staircase. Such an elegant place to start your walk to the wedding ceremony. I can only imagine the butterflies in the bride’s tummy as she takes those first steps towards her waiting groom.
As you exit the Georgian mansion, take in the breath taking views and continue the journey towards your waiting friends, family and of course the nervous groom!
The Gazebo is licensed for up to 100 guests seated with another 50 standing. Of course, outdoor ceremonies are great when the sun is shining and it is warm. What about when it isn’t? Don’t worry.
The Drawing Room is licensed for wedding ceremonies of up to 75 guests. For larger weddings, the Gallery is able to accommodate up to 150 guests.
If you are looking for a traditional church ceremony then Southwell minster is nearby and an absolutely stunning place for a religious ceremony.
In what was a Stable and Coach House. Today both rooms have been transformed into The Gallery. In here, Norwood Park can cater for up to 180 guests for your wedding breakfast.
The top table can be placed just in front of the windows so you are in the middle of the long room. From here you can eat your wedding breakfast cooked by the on site catering team before the all important speeches!
Norwood Park Gardens
One of the most impressive features of Norwood must be the beautifully landscaped gardens. As you walk out of the mansion, you are greeted with the most spectacular views of the Nottinghamshire countryside!
I will always remember the first time I stepped out. It was so peaceful and tranquil. A perfect get away from the hustle and bustle if you live in the City Centre of Nottingham.
If you’re lucky enough to be bless by the good old British weather. One popular activity is to put some garden games out on the lawns. This will keep guests entertained whilst you both mingle and have your wedding photographs taken.
It also acts as a perfect ice breaker for people to get to know each other better and some funny wedding photography moments.
Wedding Photography at Norwood Park
Each time I visit, I find new parts of the venue to create photographs in! For most of the day, I prefer to keep things as natural as possible.
This is why I prefer to take the family formal group photos near the Gazebo. I’ve found this are to give a little shade which is welcome in the summer! It is also far enough away from the garden to be away from the hustle & bustle but close enough to be able to get guests when it is their turn.
Many of my customers book me for my signature portraits. These take around 10 minutes and I make sure I have planned them in advance. This is to we don’t take up too much of your valuable time.
I am acutely aware that on your wedding day you have a lot to do. So I prefer my couples to spend as much time as possible mingling with guests and enjoying their wedding day.
Photographs are important but with my careful planning and experience. You can have the best of both worlds. Stunning photos without standing around and fuss. Here are a few of my signature images.
No wedding would be complete without a party! At such a beautiful venue like Norwood Park, you can be assured your party will be epic! The one where stories will be told for years to come!
